Michael is now in his second 3-year term as a HOBY Board Member. Michael is a HOBY NY West 1997 alumnus and attend the World Leadership Congress in that year at Purdue University. During that same transformational summer Michael was honored to accompany HOBY founder Hugh O’Brian as part of a HOBY youth delegation to Hong Kong and China. Michael is president of LINK Strategic Partners, a global social impact firm headquartered in Washington DC, with offices in Austin, St. Louis, NY, Phoenix, and Manchester, UK. As a community leader and entrepreneur, Michael recognizes the connections among leading, learning, taking action, and creating and sustaining relationships which support and empower youth. Michael’s service on 11 non-profit boards and advisory committees underscores his belief in giving back.
Virginia O’Brian is the wife of the late Hugh O’Brian, the Founder of HOBY. They met in 1988 and were together until his passing in 2016.
She attended Arizona State University and the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising and received her degree in Fashion Merchandising & Marketing. Virginia spent over 35 years in the fashion industry as a Fashion Coordinator, Wardrobe Coordinator for TV, Merchandiser, Sales Representative, Retail Manager, and teacher. Virginia taught high school students and her students always said she was their greatest cheerleader.
Virginia has been a volunteer for HOBY since meeting Hugh—coordinating and hosting many events at their home to raise money and support for HOBY. She also chaperoned HOBY Alumni trips to Europe, Israel, Jordan, Australia, and New Zealand. Today she sits on the Board of Trustees of HOBY and continues to be an advocate for HOBY.
Virginia is the Owner of HOB Memorabilia and the Co-author of Hugh’s memoir, Hugh O’Brian or What’s Left of Him.

Marcie recently joined Lotic following a distinguished career as a senior executive and recognized health policy thought leader after 15 years with a Fortune 500 global pharmaceutical company and starting her own strategic consulting practice. Marcie prides herself in helping others identify ways to grow, staying eager to learn what she doesn’t know, and valuing different perspectives at decision-making tables.
Marcie has led several global teams through rapid growth, scaling across multiple geographic expansions and integrations. Marcie serves as vice chair of the HOBY Board of Trustees and earlier served on the generic drug industry board and as a lead industry negotiator with FDA and Congress for laws passed in 2012 and 2017.
Marcie holds JD and MBA degrees from West Virginia University and a B.S. in Business Management from Wittenberg University. She resides in Pittsburgh with her husband, Bill, two children, and puppy.

Kristen Hoefer has been the CEO of HOBY since August 2020 and a member of the Board of Trustees since 2019. She is a 1986 alumna of HOBY Rhode Island and the International Leadership Seminar. Kristen brings cross-functional executive leadership experience to HOBY with a 30-year career in healthcare that includes President/CEO of CARD, CEO of Lincare, and 23 years at Abbott concluding as Divisional Vice President of Western Europe. Kristen’s passion for HOBY runs deep; After her two sons became HOBY alum and volunteers, she was inspired to help create an enduring future for HOBY and its youth leadership mission!
Vladimir has been a member of the HOBY Board of Trustees since 2019. As an immigrant from Uzbekistan, Vlad has personally experienced the transformative power of leadership development and professional mentorship. In addition to his role as a Director at Credit Suisse Asset Management, where he heads the M&A legal group, Vlad is also a co-founder of EduMaKate, a non-profit organization that helps under-resourced high school students access higher education and pursue their career aspirations. Vlad’s legal background and his experience in the non-profit sector bring a unique perspective and valuable skillset to the HOBY Board of Trustees. He is committed to supporting and empowering young people to become leaders in their communities and beyond.
NJ-HOBY alum Brian Selander joined the HOBY Board of Trustees after 20+ years volunteering at multiple state seminars. Brian loves helping HOBY alums launch their careers and make an immediate impact, connecting them with mentors he’s worked with as a senior executive in government, management consulting, digital media and procurement. He’s also strong believer in the power of HOBY Ambassadors each year to become “reverse mentors,” – sharing their critical insights, creativity and early adoption of new innovations which help him in his job as CEO of the private-equity owned company GovSourcing and the multiple start-ups he advises. Brian ends every weekend with his wife and daughters helping rescue dogs get ready for adoption.
Hensey has served as a member of the HOBY Board of Trustees since 2022. As an alumnus of multiple youth leadership programs, including the Congressional Youth Leadership Program, Hensey has a passion for helping young leaders develop the requisite skills needed for their personal and professional success—particularly in areas involving community engagement, higher education, and financial literacy. As a proven thought leader, communicator, advocate, fundraiser, and relationship builder, Hensey brings a valuable set of skills that are integral to HOBY’s outreach operations and DEI efforts and initiatives. Hensey is currently an attorney at Covington & Burling, LLP in Washington, DC, where he specializes in data privacy, artificial intelligence, public policy, and cybersecurity. Hensey also serves on the Duke Law Alumni Association Board of Directors and the DukeDC Board of Directors.
Al Carroll is an established business and civic leader with experience in talent attraction, development and retention. Al has served on the HOBY Board of Trustees since 2018. Al is an alumnus of HOBY Mid-Florida & the World Leadership Congress and has 15 years of local and international volunteer experience with the organization. Al joined the board to provide a field perspective to strategic planning, and to provide oversight of the business processes and financial controls within the organization. Al is the President & CEO of IndyHub in Indianapolis, Indiana. IndyHub works to grow, engage and empower a community of 20- and 30-somethings who are meaningfully connected to Indy and invested in its future. Al also serves as a member of the Lawrence Township Advisory Board representing District 4. The advisory board oversees the Township Trustee’s office and the Small Claims Court.
Megan is an Emmy®-nominated national TV Host, and 3x best-selling Author of the books “Faith in the Spotlight”, “One More Hug” and “The Magic of a Small Town Christmas”. She is a special correspondent for the nationally syndicated TV show “Inside Edition”. Previously, Megan was a Special Correspondent for CBS Television covering “Thursday Night Football.” She has her own production company that produces various media projects including the holiday travel show she hosts called “Small Town Christmas” on UPtv. Megan resides in Franklin TN with her husband Brian and three young children. They attend Bethel World Outreach Church. She graduated from Westmont College with a degree in Political Science. She frequently speaks on the topic of Faith and Work. Megan was a 1997 HOBY Ambassador representing Washington State.
