Community Leadership Workshop
About Community Leadership Workshops
HOBY’s Community Leadership Workshops (CLeW) are developed by volunteers across the U.S. for 9th-grade student ambassadors as an introduction to leadership education. These one-day workshops jumpstart student leadership journeys and connect them to peers in their communities. After attending a CLeW, students are challenged to complete 100 hours of community service within the next year as a pledge to put their passion and leadership skills into action.
What to Expect
Students who attend HOBY Community Leadership Workshops:
- Participate in activities exploring leadership
- Begin to discover their leadership skills and how to use them
- Collaborate with other students
- Learn about their ability to make a positive impact on their school and community
Even after just one day of HOBY programming, students leave energized and empowered about their leadership journey. All CLeW participants are a part of the global HOBY alumni network and are eligible to attend State Leadership Seminars and the World Leadership Congress. CLeW alumni can also begin to track their service hours via our unique Leadership for Service tracking system.

Each year, volunteers conduct in-person and virtual CLeWs throughout the United States. Are you a student interested in attending a CLeW in your area? Are you wanting to support the creation of a CLeW in your area? Let us know! We look forward to connecting with you!
