Leadership for Service (L4S)
HOBY Alumni truly put their service leadership learning into action after the seminar concludes. Each year, HOBY alumni are challenged to complete 100 hours of service to their communities. These service hours are a tangible way for our alumni to apply their passion and leadership skills toward making a positive impact.
Over 5,000,000 service hours have been logged by HOBY alumni since 1998, and that number grows as HOBY alumni log 60,000+ hours of service each year.

HOBY All-Stars
Established to recognize HOBY alumni and volunteers for their accomplishments in the classroom, the HOBY All-Stars program is a unique way to connect your school career to your HOBY experience! There are two levels of recognition – Academic All-Stars and Graduate All-Stars. We want to celebrate all types of academic achievement for our HOBY family.
Applications open in the fall.
Academic All-Stars Requirements:
- Must be in 12th grade or graduating college at time of application.
- Must have attended or volunteered at an official HOBY program in 2022 or earlier.
- Must have a cumulative weighted 3.5+ GPA on a 4.0 scale. If your school does not use a 4.0 scale, please convert grades accordingly with your counselor. If your school does not weigh GPAs, please use cumulative unweighted GPA.
- We require an uploaded scan of your transcript that includes the following: your full name, school’s name, your weighted GPA, and the date. This can be an unofficial transcript.
- Application, transcript, and fee must be submitted online by the designated deadline. As our goal is to get these items to you before your graduation date, we will not be able to accommodate late submissions or requests.
- If the information on your application meets these requirements and is verifiable, we will consider you a HOBY Academic All-Star!
Graduate All-Stars Requirements:
- Must be in 12th grade or graduating college at time of application.
- Must have attended or volunteered at an official HOBY program in 2022 or earlier.
