2008 Albert Schweitzer Dinner celebrates 50 years of HOBY
HOBY 50th Anniversary Honorees Mindy Meads, Paul Minorini and Larry King.
HOBY celebrated its 50th Anniversary on April 10, 2008 with an inspiring and memorable event held at the Universal Studios Globe Theatre in Universal City, California. Nearly 260 people attended, including alumni from across the country to help us celebrate this important milestone and honor some special individuals who share HOBY’s spirit of volunteerism, community service and leadership. Highlights from this unforgettable night included a special video created for the celebration with footage from HOBY programs and interviews with alumni, all sharing how HOBY influenced them.
Each of the outstanding honorees were truly inspirational. Talk show host Larry King was entertaining and funny; Aeropostale president Mindy Meads’ entrepreneurial spirit came shining through; and the personal stories shared by Paul Minorini of Boys Hope and Girl Hope were very moving.
HOBY’s founder, Hugh O’Brian was also recognized with a retrospective video and the “Legacy of Leadership Award” in honor of his 50 tireless years of serving and inspiring youth.
